I notice your choices are glonalls, is that what you are trying to use it with? This could be a usb dongle gps, a internal gps with an app to show it as a com port, or a bluetooth device that shows as a com port. My external GPS itself never shows up in device manager.Vistumbler needs a gps that shows as a com port and sends NMEA data. For my external receiver, once it is paired via Bluetooth, under Ports, I get a "Standard Serial over Bluetooth Link (COMx )". I don't use this one, so I don't know if it works with SMS. My internal GPS receiver shows up under Sensors in device manager. I didn't intend to upgrade to it, but the 8.1 update slipped past me. Is your tablet using windows 8.1? or just 8?Īnd does your gps device show up in the device manager as a com port device or fall under the "sensor" category? I found this other gps receiver i was considering buying until further reading on their website that confirmed that it will likely not work on 8.1 due to windows 8.1 Bluetooth issues Edited by caseihfarmer 23:25 i will have to try that app and my cell phone next. i used my cell phone as a wifi hotspot outside of the house and it did no good. at first thought i would think that it is using the internet service as some kind of correction but that seems unlikely. i wish i could understand why when i use the localizer software it will work great and sms mobile finds the gps and all is well until i leave my house. i bought it because it stated it was compatible with windows, after receiving it i realized that this seems to be a dated device. the external blue tooth gps i bought is a GlobalSat BT-368. ideally i would have liked to use the internal receiver in the tablet. I will try the phone app tomorrow that would be just fine if it worked that way. If you swipe from the right, tap Settings, Change PC settings, tap PC and devices, and choose Bluetooth in the left-hand pane, is Bluetooth on and does your external GPS receiver show up as paired or ready to pair? If it's paired, I'm guessing the issue is probably in the serial port settings between the two devices. Never had an issue with the Bluetooth, but have had to fiddle with the GPS receiver's output baud rates to get SMS to recognize it. I use a Dell Latitude 10 with a Sena Parani SD200 serial-to-Bluetooth adapter. +1 on making sure the baud rate your external GPS receiver is sending at and the baud rate SMS Mobile is expecting match up. Have you checked what com port your bluetooth reciever is talking on? Also made sure that the output settings on the device match what SMS mobile is wanting? Would like to know more about what bluetooth GPS device you are using or if you could use your smartphone (if you have one ) as your GPS receiver I paired mine up and in Google Earth pro I'm having no troubles getting my GPS location on my Surface Pro 3 with 8.1. I saw your reply to the other thread and saw where you said you were having problems with 8.1. I'm using an Android with "Bluetoogh GPS Output" app by Meowsbox. Ladoga, IN, United States, North America, Earth the internal gps functions properly on the device using other applications but not sms mobile. hopefully agleader has recognized this and has some ideas or a fix. might just be a problem with that device too.Īny ideas would be appreciated. i bought an external Bluetooth gps but have not had much luck with that. i installed it but it only works in my house when connected to my wifi for some reason and will not function outside of my house.Īnyone else running into this? any other ideas. the person that replied recommended using an add on software called centrafuse localizer. I have been fighting getting sms mobile to recognize my gps on my device, i posted a topic a while back in computer talk about this and someone explained that windows 8.1 calls the gps devices "sensors" now and that is causing issues since sms mobile is looking for the gps on a com port.
